Climate and nature are deeply connected. Nature, through its rich diversity of species and habitats, plays a critical role in helping to adapt and become more resilient to climate change as well as to reduce the pace of this change
For many sports organisations, climate action often centres around reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, fewer recognize the full impact they have on nature or the vital role nature plays in stabilizing the climate. To address these challenges effectively, it’s essential to understand how climate and nature are interconnected and why protecting both is critical to the future of sports.
In this first-ever ‘Nature Sportified’ webinar, we explored how protecting and conserving nature can help sports organisations tackle climate risks and seize new opportunities.
Our expert line-up included:
- Ali Raza Rizvi, Head of Climate Change and Energy Transition Team, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
- Emanuel Boscardin, Programme Officer, Sports for Nature, IUCN
- Lise Van Long, Corporate Sustainability Senior Manager, International Olympic Committee
- Marcus Parry, Sustainability Manager, Tottenham Hotspur
