About S4N Members

The Sports for Nature Framework brings together a diverse community of member sport organisations, from global institutions like the International Olympic Committee and international federations, to National Olympic Committees, regional and national governing bodies, clubs, teams, venues, and event organisers (including LA28). Members span every continent and a wide range of sports – from football to sailing, from golf to basketball, form swimming to volleyball – uniting household names with grassroots organisations of every size.

What connects this growing community is a shared, measurable commitment to nature. Each member works towards the Framework’s four principles, developing action plans, implementing various actions, and reporting progress annually, while gaining access to a supportive network of peers, tools and resources to advance their nature journey together.

Membership Criteria

Interested organisations have to fulfil two eligibility criteria before they can join the Sports for Nature Framework. They have to (1) be sport organisations, and (2) formally commit to the Sports for Nature Framework and its four principles.

Once an organisation becomes an active Sports for Nature member, it is expected to contribute to nature protection and restoration through concrete actions.

Members are required (currently the only formal requirement) to report on their progress annually (in January of the following year). If they fail to do so two years in a row and do not re-engage during a grace period of 6 months, their S4N membership is terminated.
