Green Football x Sports for Nature

This year, Sports for Nature has teamed up with Green Football, a UK-based not-for-profit campaign that mobilises the power of football to drive climate action and protect nature.

Through this collaboration, Sports for Nature aims to expand the campaign’s reach beyond the UK, while establishing the foundations of a growing “Football for Nature” community.

15 football organisations, among them Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Real Betis Balompié and VfL Wolfsburg, have already committed to the Sports for Nature Framework. With their support, Sports for Nature has developed an 11-step football toolkit (see link below) that offers practical and accessible actions  football clubs and organisations can take to support nature.

Share your perspective: Global Football & Nature Pulse Survey

As part of this effort, Sports for Nature has launched a global pulse survey to better understand how nature-related issues are affecting football today.

Football clubs, leagues and federations worldwide are invited to take part in the short 3–4 minute survey, which is available in 10 languages.

The responses will help provide a global snapshot of current practices and challenges, and inform future support and collaboration across the football community. Contributions are welcomed until 31 March.

Get started

For organisations looking to take action, Sports for Nature has developed the following discussion paper: “Football for Nature: A New Guide for Action”.

The guide provides a clear starting point for organisations at all levels of the game, highlighting practical opportunities for action and showcasing examples from clubs already working to protect and restore nature.

By working together across the football community, the sport can play a powerful role in “defending the places where football lives”.
