World Rowing and WWF International joined forces to launch the Healthy Waters Alliance, an initiative that moves beyond raising awareness to delivering impact for rivers, lakes and coasts. The Alliance connects the rowing and conservation communities to co-create projects that protect and restore waters vital to rowers, wildlife, local communities and economies.
From National Rowing Federations and clubs to athletes, event organisers and WWF offices, anyone can initiate a project using the Healthy Waters Alliance Guide as a blueprint. Early actions included a seabed clean-up by the Italian Rowing Federation and WWF Italy, clubs taking part in the Adopt a Beach programme, and Olympic rower Martin Helseth leading a clean-up of the Oslo fjord.
